Yesterday afternoon was a working day for me. We I got done with the service in Twin I had a few Pastoral calls to make so instead of going home and changing, Mz Ashley and I grabbed some lunch in Alder( In-Back Steak house) and then did our visits. The last stop was at the one ranch where we like to fish, the owners were back from their winter stay down south. When we got there they were still in the process of unpacking and so we agreed to meet in a couple of hours. Soooooo what to do??
Even though I was still in my good clothes, I had all my fishin’ gear in the truck and so Mz Ashley and I discussed and came to the conclusion that we should do some fishin’ (seeing as how we were already there)…As you can see it was once again a fairly bright day, with some scattered clouds and a slight breeze. Air temp..34 degrees, Water temp 48 degrees…when the sun was out we had no problems with our guides freezing up but second it ducked behind a cloud the ice would start forming and casting became tougher. We walked up river about a mile lookin’ for any surface action. There was nothing feeding on the surface or in the film so we decided to throw a soft hackle streamer that we’ve had good luck with. At our first pool we hooked up on the third swing and brought a nice brown to hand …I didn’t get a photo as I was trying to deal with the fish and Mz Ashley who was trying to retrieve said fish…Encouraged buy our immediate success we continued to work our way down steam toward the truck. We spent the next two hours working the deep pools and dumps all in all I managed to get three really nice browns to hand and had 4 LDRs. Once back at the truck I got out of my waders put the gear away and had nice visit with the owners…
I took this shot at the end of the day but as you can see Icing was mostly a temporary problem.
Second brown of the day, Mz Ashley was out looking for a pheasant we heard crowing, so I was able to get a photo or two…
A couple of the runs and pools we fished…

Sunday, though long, turned out to be a good day got all our work done and got to have some fun… Ben Nardi, Text and Photos © 2008 About the Author...Ben Nardi is a Pastor with the United Methodist Church, currently serving the Ruby Valley Parish, with Churches in Twin Bridges and Sheridan, Montana.
